The most outstanding part of the children’s center is St. Mary’s Children’s Specialty Services, a free-standing clinic located just behind the hospital. The only service of its kind in Northeast Georgia, this clinic brings some of the state’s leading experts in pediatric medicine to Athens, so parents and their children don’t have to drive to Atlanta or Augusta for important consultations.

More than two dozen highly specialized physicians practice at the clinic on a rotating basis, seeing children referred to them by local pediatricians, family practitioners and other specialists. They provide care in pediatric subspecialties such as:

Since the service opened in March 2001, more than 25,000 children have received care at this clinic, saving them and their families thousands of lost hours from work and school, and thousands of miles of driving. The service is doubly convenient because it is located on the St. Mary’s campus, so if your child needs additional testing, you can simply walk the few steps to St. Mary’s Hospital and have testing done in-house the same day.
