St. Mary’s Wellness Center provides a large, fully equipped gym, a wide range of classes and services, and friendly knowledgeable staff. Whether you are training for a marathon or recovering from a heart attack, we are here to help you reach your goals.

Conveniently located just off Ga. 316 near the Athens Perimeter, the modern facility is our region’s only Medical Fitness Center.

St. Mary’s Wellness Center provides a package of services tailored to fit your lifestyle and meet your fitness goals. Our team of exercise specialists is ready to help you set goals, design your fitness program, and answer your questions. Membership includes:

We are conveniently located on the 2nd floor of St. Mary’s Outpatient Diagnostic, Rehab and Wellness Center, 2470 Daniells Bridge Road. The Wellness Center is served by an elevator as well as stairs.

St. Mary’s Wellness Center is staffed by knowledgeable health and wellness professionals. Our staff consists of individuals with degrees in exercise science, Kinesiology and health promotion and behavior. Some staff members have certification in their individual area of specialty. Our massage therapists and aerobics instructors are nationally certified.

Our staff is trained to work with adults of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels. Our number one goal is to help you meet your health and fitness goal and to help ensure you receive the support and guidance to do so.

Classes are free for members and also open to non-members for a small fee. We provide various levels of impact and challenge; choose the class or classes that best meet your needs.

Our spacious gym features clean, well-maintained cardiovascular and strength-training equipment. All cardio machines include state-of-the-art LCD consoles for fingertip control as well as instant access to TV, radio and inspiring landscapes. Members have access to:

  • Elliptical trainers
  • Free weights
  • Strength-training machines
  • Stationary bikes (recumbent & upright)
  • Arm ergometers
  • Recumbent steppers
  • Open mats

Services

Body composition testing, blood pressure screening, and circumference measuring are all part of the services offered to members. The friendly staff and trainers are more than happy to help you set up a specialized exercise plan that will help ensure a safe workout designed to meet your needs and medical limitations. Most services are included in basic membership; members receive a discount for others. For information about our services and programs, call 706.389.3355

Massage Therapy

Certified massage therapists with medical massage experience are available by appointment for a small fee. Discounted rates are offered to Wellness Center members, outpatient rehab clients and St. Mary’s employees.

Personal Training

Personal training packages or individual sessions assist you with motivation, provide additional instruction and help ensure you achieve your fitness goals. All of our personal trainers are nationally certified through some of the most respected certifying organizations in the nation. Charges for personal training are among the lowest in the region.

Nutritional Services

From fighting obesity to fueling a marathon, one-on-one counseling with our registered dietitian can help you achieve your goals. A variety of packages are available, including single sessions, multiple sessions, and counseling combined with personal training and/or massage. Available to people of all ages by appointment. No doctor’s order is required. Non-members as well as members can take advantage of this service.

1. Post Rehabilitation is an exercise program for individuals that have completed physical therapy, and who are referred by their therapist or physician to continue their plan of care. The program focuses on functional strength training for individuals recovering from joint replacement, stroke, and many other conditions. Sessions are offered in group settings as well as one on one.

Hours: Weekdays by appointment only.

2. Phase III Cardiac Rehab is an exercise program for individuals who have made good progress in their recovery or who have successfully completed a Phase II program and want to continue to reduce their risk of future cardiac issues. The program emphasizes exercise and education to maintain a healthy lifestyle. You will participate in regular exercise classes at St. Mary’s Wellness Center, where the staff will work with you to develop and maintain a fitness plan tailored to your individual needs and goals. During classes, you will be able to move freely through the Wellness Center’s spacious exercise area and will be monitored by trained staff in case any problems arise. Education about lifestyle choices, healthy eating, stress reduction, and more is available on an ongoing basis.

Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.

3. Supervised Exercise Program (SEP) is similar to Phase 3 Cardiac Rehab and is appropriate for high risk individuals who possess medical limitations other than cardiac conditions, including, but not limited to obesity, diabetes and arthritis. Services are offered with a physician referral for an affordable fee. Classes for the SEP meet three times a week.

Hours: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.

4. Phase III Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a class-based, lifelong maintenance program aimed at helping those living with chronic pulmonary conditions prevent complications and stay at their peak level. Utilization of cardiovascular training and equipment allows for the potential to decrease the progression of pulmonary diseases and can lead to an overall greater quality of life. Requirements for Phase III Pulmonary Rehab:

Participation is by appointment only on Tuesday and Thursday.

*Note to participant: Each program requires a signed physician’s referral stating current diagnosis of cardiac, pulmonary, or other qualified condition. Prior Phase II participation for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation is preferred, but not required.
